Black Coffee and T-Shirts

It occurred to me that it’s been a while since I’ve been on here so I figured I’d take the time to bring everyone up to date.

The big news, I suppose, is that I’m back to work and have been for a few months now.  Just one period, mind you, but it feels good to be back in the groove, doing what I love.  To help with the transition I get to have one of my best friends, Rachel, as my teaching partner.  She eases my workload, and is my go-to tech support but, beyond that, she’s just super fun to work with.  I love her and have told her repeatedly that I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t for her.  It’s true.

I look forward to coming in to school every day because, in addition to Rach, we have an amazing group of students that we get to spend first period with.  They are keen, worldly, insightful and so interested in the topics and discussions that arise.  It’s a great way to start the day.

While I’m technically only working from 9-10:20 every day, I’m generally in the school for about half of the day.  It wasn’t always like this, mind you.  I remember the beginning of the semester involved a lot more naps.  Now, though, I’m able to use the time after class to get any marking or planning done or to network and visit with peers, something I missed terribly in the fall.

With the support of great people and God’s grace I keep rolling along - planning for next year, hitting the gym, drinking way too much coffee and rocking cool t-shirts at school.
